Hawking class research ship
The Hawking class is a type of a big science ship for service in the United Systems Fleet since 2169.
Service History[edit]
A project of a big and fast research ship appeared in 2164 after many new technological improvements were introduced during development of the Praeon class battleship. In 2166 the construction started and in 2169 the class prototype was ready. Its distant relation to Praeon class can be seen in engines configuration and computer systems. The rest of the ships configuration appears to remain quite traditional. A few months ago the USRS Hawking entered service. Its great abilities were tested on a short scientific mission in Epsilon Eridani system. The defense systems were never used yet, but power of ten automatic medium cannons is expected to be very impressive.
Design[edit]
Hawking class is designed as a very modern ship equipped with advanced on-board laboratories as well as very effective defense systems. The hangar of the Hawking can support up to three small spacecrafts. Its powerful engines make the ship one of the fastest ships in the United Systems Fleet.
