Paeston N7 series fighter
Paeston N7 is a series of twin-engine twin-seat combat spacecrafts built on Deneroth, Gamma Leporis system. It is not known, how many variants exist, but the N7W Onza attack fighter is, by far, the most numerous variant spotted with clashes with Deneroth forces.
Service History[edit]
Deneroth always had good potential of building very powerful fighter types. A partial inspiration by Coalition constructions together with Denerothian large capacity of production and typical "twin-engine" approach creates an ideal ground for birth of such an outstanding machine, like the N7W Onza is. The prototype took of on december 3rd 2163. However, high expectations were not fulfilled, because the prototype had serious problems with it's powerful impulse engines. The necessary modifications took five months, before the serial production could commence. The first Onzas arrived to combat units in summer 2164. Anyway, the first versions reportedly still had some problems with propulsion. The last problems weren't completely resolved until autumn 2165.
Existence of the N7W Onza was known to the Coalition since 2164, but no special importance was attached to it, until the first encounter came. A flight of six Onzas attacked and destroyed two Teekahan frigates deep inside the Epsilon Eridani sector. Shortly after many more attacks came. The following shock in the coalition headquarters led the Untied Systems Fleet to rise numbers of escort fighters. In 2166 the coalition began working on a counterpart to this type, later known as Quargin USF-409B "Varan".
Design[edit]
N7W Onza is an extremely powerful attack fighter with unusual configuration of engines placed inside the wings. The wings themselves allow the fighter quite good maneuverability in atmosphere, although it's nearly twice as heavy as a usual light fighter is. The Onza carries a battery four light particle cannons. It has no shields or FTL drive.
