An apsis is the nearest or farthest point in an orbit from the center of the parent body. The nearest point is the periapsis and farthest point is the apoapsis. A line between the two passing through the center of the parent body is the line of apsides.

In OrbitMFD, the line of apsides is designated by a dotted line from the periapsis, which is an open square on the orbit, through the center of the parent body to the apoapsis, a solid square on the other side of the orbit.
