Ion 6 Launch Vehicle is an add-on by Max-Q released 7 October 2022. Ion 6 is a fictional launch vehicle with a payload capability of 53000 kg to TLI, and is designed for lower cost launches than other launchers. First and second stages achieve attitude control via engine gimballing, the third stage by gimbals for pitch and yaw, hydrazine thrusters for roll. During third stage coast flight, two APS pods with attitude thrusters achieve attitude control, but has limited +Z translation capability via the pods.

Features[edit]

  • Launch autopilot is designed to be activated at T-10 seconds and will launch at T-0 for orbital perigee up to 250 km.
  • The default fairing is 7 meters, but custom fairings and adapters may be substituted.
  • Countdown sequence begins at T-10 and auto-launches at T-0.
  • Engine gimballing is installed on all three stages for attitude control.
  • Launch pad features an animated Mobile Launch Platform and flame bucket effects.
  • Dogleg trajectory available is included in the add-on.
