The Orbithangar website is a vital part of the Orbiter community. It serves as a repository for add-ons contributed by members. There are currently over 1700 files available for download. There is a sister site, SpaceSimMods which contains older versions of Orbiter and large add-ons.

On March 15, 2008, Orbithangar announced that disposable Email Accounts have been banned from use on this site. All of the recently posted bug reports which were only meant to spam the site or discredit an author were the result of such accounts. Thus the use of disposable e-mail accounts has been banned from the site entirely in an attempt to stop this behavior. This ban does not include services such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.
