Ion 6 Launch Vehicle is an add-on by Max-Q released 7 October 2022. Ion 6 is a fictional launch vehicle with a payload capability of 53000 kg to TLI, and is designed for lower cost launches than other launchers. First and second stages achieve attitude control via engine gimballing, the third stage by gimbals for pitch and yaw, hydrazine thrusters for roll. During third stage coast flight, two APS pods with attitude thrusters achieve attitude control, but has limited +Z translation capability via the pods.
Features
- Launch autopilot is designed to be activated at T-10 seconds and will launch at T-0 for orbital perigee up to 250 km.
- The default fairing is 7 meters, but custom fairings and adapters may be substituted.
