General facts

Quargin USF-409 is a series of small twin-engine twin-seat combat spacecrafts built on Egga, Alpha Centauri system. Now it is built in two versions - "A" escort figher and "B" attack fighter. Most popular is the 409B "Varan" attack fighter.

Both types are fully operational in space or in atmospheric environment. They operate from a mother ship or a base on surface of a planet. It is known for outstanding speed. In atmospheric conditions it is very maneuverable because of it's front "wing". It has no shields or FTL drive.

Service History

Quargin Shipyards are known for production of larger spacecrafts, also this project of an indigenous Eggan fighter was a step into unknown. However, the construction now seems to be very good for it's tasks. The prototype was finished on 1. febuary 2169 on Egga and the first USF-409 fighters came into service on 24. february 2169. From the very beginning, two types are produced. The "A" version is an escort fighter. The "B" version, nicknamed "Varan", is an attack fighter. It is equipped with a new kind of waeapon - a couple of torpedo launchers with 10 AWT-1 Anti-warship torpedoes. They have never been used in combat yet, but they are expected to be very effective against enemy ships.
