General facts

Praeon class battleship is a design of warship in service in United Systems Fleet introduced in 2169. It is the biggest and heaviest class of warship ever introduced in the fleet. It's advanced design provides balanced space for all important functions of a modern warship. A pair of powerful engines connected with large engineering section provide outstanding propulsion, while a pair of enormous heavy particle cannons offers formidable firepower. High capacity hangar can support many smaller ships. The large proportions give more than enough room for command section and crew quarters.

Service History

Large numbers of Deneroth Madena class battleships were produced in late 2150's. This fact forced United System's leadership to order a brand new type of battleship, overpowering any possible enemy types. Soon the new design was ready. A massive battleship with very advanced design looked great on paper. The keel was laid down on Earth's orbit in 2160. Works on the first prototype - the USWS Praeon - took enormous seven years, almost four times as long as construction of one enemy battleship. Construction time of following Praeon-class ships should be reduced to 5 years, so next two ships of the class - USWS Pangea and USWS Proton should be finished in early 2170.

However, the recently finished battleship is amazing achievement in shipbuilding. The only ship of it's class, the USWS Praeon, came into service in 2167 and since then plays important role in Solar system's defence against enemy operations. The most notable action was succesful attack on a lone Deneroth battleship on reconaissance mission deep in the Proxima Centauri sector in 2168.

Shields

Shields are powered by a special shield generator in front part of the ship, and held together by series of emmiters and energetic rails along the entire hull. The main advantage of this configuration is shield 's own separated generator. If the ship's main generator fails, the ship still remains partially protected from enemy fire.
