OGLAClient is an OpenGL Orbiter Visualization Project Graphic client

Status

Periodically developed. Been declared playable by some users and good enough for a sudden Orbiter release, if you have Nvidia GPU.

Latest development version is 090322, available at OF.

Currently working on:

  • Solving ATI red devil bug
  • Better atmosphere
  • Cleaning up shadows and reflections
  • Real rings rendering
  • Multilight improvements

Currently thinking on:

  • Better terrain
  • Memory and LOD fine-tuning
  • Getting the rings real-looking
  • Dynamic textures
  • Multilight config framework
  • More natural reflections

What is done:

  • Quite a lot
  • Navigable universe
  • Vessel mesh rendering sans animations
  • Planet rendering Lv 0-14
  • Surface base rendering and culling
  • Planetary meshes, mostly complete
  • Terrain and atmospheric shade
  • Basic rings
  • Beyound Orbiter - stars
  • Panels, glass cockpit
  • Vessel animations

Known bugs/issues (090322)

  • ATI GPU's red devil bug
  • Either slow or imprecise shadows
  • Few MFD's supported
  • Fonts look bad
